  1. Warbleton is a village and civil parish in the Wealden district of East Sussex. It includes the settlements of Rushlake Green and Bodle Street Green. Historically, Warbleton was associated with the Sussex iron industry, and Richard Woodman, a local ironmaster, was one of the Lewes martyrs burned during the Marian persecutions. The parish church, St Mary the Virgin, dates back to the 13th century.

  2. Dallington is a small village and civil parish in the Rother district of East Sussex. It is known for its picturesque countryside and historic St Giles Church, which features an unusual tower and spire from the early 16th century. The village is located between Battle and Heathfield, making it a peaceful rural retreat.

  3. Herstmonceaux is famous for Herstmonceux Castle, a stunning 15th-century moated castle set within 300 acres of gardens and woodland. The village also hosts the Herstmonceux Medieval Festival annually in August. Historically, the area was known for trug-making, a traditional craft involving willow baskets.

  4. Chiddingly is a rural parish with a rich history, including Saxon origins and Roman iron mining. The village is home to St Mary’s Church, a Norman-era church, and Farleys House Museum, which showcases the work of surrealist artist Roland Penrose. The Chiddingly Festival celebrates local arts and culture annually.

  5. Rye is a historic town known for its medieval charm, cobbled streets, and Ypres Tower, which dates back to 1249. It was once an important port and a member of the Cinque Ports Confederation. Rye is also famous for Mermaid Street, lined with half-timbered houses, and Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, a haven for wildlife.

  6. Wartling is a small village near the Pevensey Levels, historically linked to the iron industry. The St Mary Magdalene Church, built in the 13th century, is a notable landmark. Wartling was also home to RAF Wartling, a radar station used during World War II and the Cold War.
